How It Works

Two ways to top up.

Tank Exchange

The fast option: hand over your empty cylinder and walk out with a full, inspected one. No waiting on a fill. Available at our Cobourg store.

Tank Refill

Keep your own cylinder and have it refilled while you shop at Cobourg or Gilmer’s in Port Hope. You only pay for the propane, and your tank stays your tank. We fill any size, from a 20 lb BBQ tank up to a construction cylinder.

Quick Safety Check

Every tank gets a once-over before it's filled or exchanged: valve condition, visible damage, and the requalification date stamped on the collar. Cylinders past their date can't legally be refilled, but an exchange at Cobourg solves that on the spot.

Prefer not to wait? Tank exchange is available at Cobourg. Ask at the service desk.

Before You Come In

Getting your tank here safely.

The routine is the same year-round: close the valve, leave the tank outside your vehicle's cabin if you can (upright, secured, windows cracked), and bring it to the service desk in Cobourg or Port Hope.

Not sure if your cylinder is still good? Check the collar: in Canada, propane cylinders must be requalified 10 years from the stamped date. If yours is past due, ask us about exchanging it rather than tossing it.

Tank transport basics
  • Valve fully closed, plug or cap on
  • Upright and secured so it can't tip
  • Windows cracked for ventilation
  • Straight home after filling; don't leave it in a hot car

Exchange and refill run during regular store hours. There's no special cut-off time. Heading into a long weekend? Come early; tanks move fast before BBQ weekends.
